Organized by International Department, Sanya University Orientation Meeting for Nepalese Students under SWT (Study-Work-Travel) Program was held on the 3rd day of May, 2016. Cao Yanwei, Vice Director of International Department, faculty representatives from School of Foreign Languages and International Department presented at the meeting.
Meeting Scene
During the meeting, Vice Director Cao Yanwei warmly welcomed the Nepalese students for their first visit to Sanya. She said that Sanya University always acts on the educational mission that prepares students to be more valuable contributors in future world. By providing Chinese language study, internship and cultural trip, SWT Program is designed to meet the international students’ requirements with the aim to cultivate more value-added talents. Meanwhile, she encouraged students to take the challenges and adapt to the new environment. She hoped students to appreciate the experience and bring it to their study, work and life in the future.
The Nepalese Students
By giving a self-introduction, the Nepalese students soon got accustomed to each other. They said they were impressed by Sanya University’s educational quality and achievements in such a short period of time after watching Sanya University’s video. Also, it was excited to study in such a beautiful tropical-garden style campus. They expressed that they would make full use of the time here to get more knowledge and skills for their future career. At the meeting, Ms. Zuo Ying from School of Foreign Languages explained on the cultivation goals, curriculum and Chinese language activities. She expected the students to focus on both basic knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese culture and history. After the meeting, staff of International Department led the Nepalese students a campus tour. And with the help of Chinese student assistants, they went to the classroom for their first class at Sanya University.

SWT is the English abbreviation of Hainan Study-Work-Travel Program. The program has been specially designed to serve the needs of young foreign students coming to China to study and take internship. The program includes Chinese language studies, a business internship and cultural trips, of which the Chinese language studies and the business internship are the main foci. Sanya University always seeks opportunities for International educational cooperation. And in accordance with the national initiative of “the Belt and Road”, Sanya University is seeking and further strengthening collaborations with higher education institutes from countries in ASEAN, South Asia, Central Asia and East Africa.
